The Missus is on the path toward health.
She got admitted to the hospital last week Sunday, with a combination of mastoiditis and bacterial meningitis. She has small ear canals, and suffered from a myriad of ear infections as a wee lass. The doctors think that her trip to Colorado for our Hitchin' Shindig and the attendant altitude changes caused her ears to block up again and got an infection.
That infection went rogue. Bad infection. Bad bad infection. Go to your room and think about what you've done.
Ear infection led to mastoid inflammation and infection, which resulted in meningitis infection.
AJ, my cousin, took her to the ER and kept me abreast of things with texts, phone calls, etc.
I got there Monday, and spent the week taking care of her, and the Spawn. Her mother, as mothers will always do, drove down and spent the week getting busy cleaning house, cooking food, and generally fussing about. She made for home on Wednesday, once we knew Missus was out of the deep woods, and the responsibility of watching and providing for the girls was mine alone. I got thrown into the deep end, if you would, and managed to swim alright. Not 100% seamless, but tolerable.
At any rate, she got a triple cocktail of antibiotics for a week, tubes in her ears to drain the infection back there, and got sent home on Friday night, with a PICC line in place and a regiment of self-administered home IV antibiotics for the next two weeks. Repeat MRI coming, and she'll be getting follow up appointments for a long while.
But she's alive, and considering how sick she was last week Sunday, that's all I could ask for.
