OMG!! Call Nancy Pelosi

Recession-battered employers eliminated 598,000 jobs in January, the most since the end of 1974, and catapulted the unemployment rate to 7.6 percent.

598 million jobs, in January alone?

Unemployment rate at 76%?

I blame global warming.

598 million jobs lost would be an unemployment rate of about 196%*. Every month. So essentially, everyone in America (babies and geezers included) would be changing jobs twice a month and getting fired from both of them. You'd think at least the HR departments would be fully staffed.

And actually, the unemployment rate isn't a percentage of the entire population, it's a percentage of the work-eligible and -seeking population, if I recall correctly. So 598 million jobs lost would be a much much much higher unemployment rate.

Either way, Pelosi's still a royal effing idiot, and the media should be ashamed for once again letting an amazingly-stupid statement by a Democrat go completely unmentioned.

But of course, it's all George Bush's fault anyway.
